PATH's China Country Program includes activities and approaches to encourage healthy behaviors and support behavior change through several strategies, including education and training, discussion and dialogue, and communication campaigns. As part of our growing portfolio, PATH is developing a new program strategy that will include work with women, economic empowerment, life skills education, and sports and health. The Sr. Program Assistant will be responsible for coordination of staff and activities in the first phase of the program. The Sr. Program Assistant will also assist other behavior change communication (BCC) program activities including communication material development, training, research, and routine administration. The Sr. Program Assistant will coordinate and liaise with other project teams and provide assistance for BCC activities.
Under the leadership of the Program Officer for BCC, the primary responsibility of the Sr. Program Assistant will be overall coordination of a women’s empowerment program, and assisting with other BCC programs, such as improving gender norms and women’s health.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist the BCC Program Officer to plan and track project activities, oversee work plans, and monitor expenditures.
- Assist the BCC Program Officer to identify, communicate, and network with stakeholders to follow up with program activities.
- Assist the team and the consultants to conduct program activities, such as interviews, focus groups, questionnaire design, literature review, communicational material development, and trainings as assigned.
- Assist with data synthesis and draft reports for assessment and program activities.
- Work closely with the project team to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met.
- Ensure in-time communication between the program partners and the project team.
- Monitor consultant work and assist as needed.
- Conduct interviews as assigned.
- Provide progress reports for activities and assist in ensuring timely submission of work reports.
- Help draft and provide inputs for final project report.
- Consult, inform, and discuss with the BCC Program Officer on emerging challenges.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the BCC Program Officer and PATH China Country Representative.
- Travel domestically as necessary.
Required Skills
- Administratively self-sufficient; proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Well-organized; able to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated initiative and follow-through.
- Ability to manage stress.
- Experience working with BCC, social marketing, or other development programs.
- Good report-writing and communication skills.
- Fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English.
Required Experience
Education background in communication, marketing, research, social development, or social science, with at least four years of relevant working experience. Also required is experience researching and producing communication materials, using evaluation results to inform strategy, and facilitating training, and/or conducting interviews and focus groups, and/or other assessment activities.
