Concern for Persons with Disabilities in Eastern DRC

The Food Crisis and Persons with Disabilities

Food is a basic necessity for everyone; but for some, it is a daily issue for survival. For those living under the poverty line in developing countries with little means to provide for their family, the struggle each day is to find sufficient food just to live.

CBM marks World Sight Day 2008

CBM supports World Sight Day, a joint initiative of the World Health Organisation and the International Agency for Preventable Blindness. World Sight Day draws attention to 'Vision 2020: The Right to Sight," an initiative which aims to eliminate avoidable blindness, 90 per cent of which occurs in developing countries.

CBM supports Chinese Paralympic athletes at Beijing ceremony

Mens T11 5000 metre race at the Beijing Paralympics. CBM goodwill ambassador Henry Wanyoike won the Bronze medal.

CBM-supported Chinese athlete takes swimming Gold in Beijing

The Olympic Flame at the Beijing Paralympics 2008, where Xie Qing won Gold.

Chinese visually-impaired swimmer Xie Qing has won a Gold medal in the Women's 100m freestyle event at the Paralympic Games in Beijing. CBM visited the athlete in May to present assistive devices through a collaboration with the China Disabled Persons’ Federation.
