Mission: "To promote networking and collaborative activities among citizen organizations engaged in international cooperation; to strengthen the institutional capacity of NGOs to carry out their missions; to disseminate information and knowledge concerning people's living conditions in developing regions of the world and the impact of the general public’s way of life on these people; to enlighten the general public about the role of NGOs and encourage them to participate in NGO activities."

Activities in Other Countries: Worldwide The Japan NGO Center for International Cooperation (JANIC) is a non-profit, networking organisation founded in 1987 by a group of NGO leaders who saw the need for better communication among Japanese NGOs and with overseas groups. JANIC now has 70 NGO members. It publishes an online directory of Japanese NGOS and maintains an information centre; hosts a bi-annual Japanese NGO forum and holds ‘global citizenship’ courses all over Japan ; offers training courses for NGO staff; engages in research and advocacy on behalf of NGOs, and organises international exchange and study tour programmes. In China, JANIC has worked with CANGOs and the China Association for Energy Cooperation.
In FY2003, JANIC’s total income was JPY 117,920,617. This came from membership fees , sales of publications and conference fees, grants from private foundations (both Japanese and foreign) and interest on endowed funds.
