This organisation was established in 1994. With more than 10,000 members it is active in a wide range of ‘public watchdog’ campaigns to promote accountability, social justice and participatory democracy.
Since 1997 PSPD has taken to shareholder activism, using minority shareholdings in Korean companies to prompt debate about corporate responsibility and to pressure companies towards higher environmental and social standards.
In China, PSPD monitors the labour standards of Korean and other international investors, notably in the Pearl Delta region.
Approximately , 80% of PSPD’s income comes from membership fees
