Established in 1968, this Spanish organisation funds health and social development projects to benefit disadvantaged communities. Its first overseas project was to assist people affected by leprosy in the Philippines.
In China, too, ANESVAD supports work to improve care for people affected by leprosy in Guangdong and Yunnan. These projects are carried out in collaboration with Casa Ricci Social Services of Macao.
Another current project provides special education for hearing impaired children, and training lectures and workshops for school principals, teachers and parents. This is carried out by Macao’s Catholic Social Services, with funding support form ANEVSAD.
A mainland Chinese partner is Beifang Jinde Catholic Services, in Hebei. ANESVAD paid for equipment for an ophthalmic clinic in Weixian County and, in the Spring of 2003, for SARS prevention education material published and distributed by the local partner.
Previous projects have included the building and refurbishment of rural schools in Guizhou, and the installation of a water supply in Yunnan’s Xundian County.
ANESVAD is funded by donations from private individuals
