International Partnership for China’s Environment. The most recent IFCE initiative, this programme aims to link Chinese and international private sector environmental technology companies, to enhance technology transfer and commercialization of environmentally sustainable technologies.
Policy Advice and Technical Exchange IFCE has submitted a number of policy discussion papers and recommendations to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. One example was a report on ‘Vegetation Restoration and Improving Farmer’s Living Conditions in Western China’, submitted in 2003. The Fund has also facilitated a number of exchange visits by Chinese and US experts and policymakers, and it convenes environmental symposiums – such as an October, 2004 symposium in Gansu on Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Dryland Areas, co-organised with the Chinese Academy of Sciences
NGO Development and Support In 2001 and 2003 IFCE co-organised NGO forums on international environmental cooperation with China. The 2003 event was co-hosted by the People’s University and Global Village of Beijing, and drew 426 Chinese and international participants.
Education and Training IFCE has sponsored a series of children’s art competitions and publications, and helped to establish a children’s environmental art education base in Xi’an.
IFCE receives funding support from foundations and corporate donors, as well as donations from individuals.
