This programme is delivered through local, Provincial Red Cross societies. Technical support that is coordinated through the national representative office.
Work in progress currently covers rural areas of Ningxia (Guyuan) β where water supply is particularly scarce - and Shanxi β where levels of fluoride contamination are high. Components of the current programme address both of these issues as well as broader issues of public health education, notably hand-washing and basic hygiene training.
International work is across four programme areas; primary health care; emergency response and preparedness; restoring family links; and dissemination of international humanitarian law.
Funding for the American Red Cross programmes comes from private, individual donations.
